When looking for a camper, we ask a lot. We want it to fit the family, be light and easy to tow, and go anywhere we want to go. Oh, and not to cost the earth.
The Lantrex LT.2 from Travelander ticks all those boxes. At 940kg dry and looking similar to an F1 race car with its low profile and aerodynamic nose, this trailer will not get stuck at Inskip Point. Travelander has been in the camper business for 18 years and provides a 10-year structural warranty on the fibreglass camper and trailer chassis.

FAST FEATURES
One of the coolest features of the Lantrex is how fast it is to setup: just 60 seconds. When you arrive at camp, you undo four latches and get out your remote opener stored on your key ring. Press the button, and the camper opens up and extends rearward with the initial setup taking less than 60 seconds. If it's only the two of you, you're ready to get to bed. If you have the kids, you could set up the kid's room or let them put down a mattress on the hard floor area. Quick as. The next morning, you could be gone in 60 seconds.
SIZE MATTERS
One of the first things you notice about the Lantrex is its sleek and compact shape, measuring around 1600mm high and 5100mm long. It will easily track behind your vehicle and clear branches more easily than your vehicle. You also don't need a truck to tow it either and the Lantrex’s low profile will save you fuel on the way to your destination. Its independent coil suspension is capable of handling rough tracks.

TOUGH AS NAILS
The Y-frame mono chassis is constructed from powder-coated DuraGal steel which accommodates the spare wheel under the trailer between the rear wheels. The standard suspension is independent coil; however, there is an option to have airbags. An 80-litre and a 160-litre water tank allow for plenty of water storage while travelling, and the onboard electric water pump is capable of drawing water from a natural water source.
The LT.2 comes standard with three LandCruiser five or six stud alloys and stopping power is via 12-inch electric brakes and hitching the trailer to the tow vehicle is made easy with the McHitch. At the rear of the trailer are two adjustable stabilising legs and at the front is a solid pneumatic jockey wheel.
STORAGE FOR DAYS
There are eight lockable storage areas accessible when travelling. The front pod has the largest of these, one of which houses the fridge and pantry drawers. On top of the front pod is a rack for firewood or any other odd-sized items. The nose pod is shaped to deflect stones away from the tow vehicle and has been painted in raptor coat protecting both the paint and fibreglass.

TIME TO COOK
The kitchen slides out from under the bed area and can be used while in transport or camp mode. It can also be deployed against the trailer as in the photos or parallel to the fridge. It opens up so there are work/prep areas at both ends of the kitchen and there is a large splash back/wind shield at the rear of the stove and sink. Two drawers slide out from under the stove that would be suitable for cutlery but deep enough for other items.
The fridge slide can accommodate up to an 80L fridge/freezer and has a shelf that opens out next to the fridge to place items as you get them out of the fridge. In front of the fridge, there is a large three-level pantry drawer which is both convenient and well thought out so that small items can't be lost while providing loads of storage.
BIG, TOUGH TENT
The large tent with tropical roof that deploys automatically rearward as the trailer opens is a DX10 blended poly/cotton canvas. Once deployed, the tent has large screened windows that allow for both light and breeze through the camper. What was the roof of the trailer in transport mode becomes a hard floor area within the tent of the open camper. Cost-optional kids room and change room/shower cubicle are shown in this review. The large 2.4m annexe roof is also a cost-option.

LIGHT AND POWER
There are anti-bug/white LED lights and in-bed reading lights. Power is supplied by an Enderdrive 120ah lithium battery and can be charged by solar or 12v vehicle input or optional 240v plug. The switch panel is in the same compartment with the fridge, and my one gripe is that it's hard to access if both the fridge and kitchen are out.
TIME TO SLEEP
As you step into the tent area, there is a hard floor area which would be suitable for getting out of the rain if needed or kids’ area if you don't have the optional kids’ room. There is also access to a large shallow drawer suitable for clothes or more pantry items; this drawer is also accessible if the camper is closed down.
The dual-density queen-sized bed sits above this shallow drawer and can be left made up so once the camper opens its ready. There is additional storage under the bed which can be raised with the help of gas struts. There is plenty of air and light once the canvas windows are rolled down from the inside. If you are venturing to cold climates, there is a cost-option diesel cabin heater available which will also heat the water.

This go-anywhere camper is light, strong and can provide accommodation for a couple or a family. The ease of initial setup is less than a minute and requires no real physical effort. There are no ladders, and the hard floor is a bonus when camping. The price is very competitive too.
