Black Diamond has released its Storm 375 Headlamp which is waterproof and dust-proof with an IPX67 rating. As the name suggests, it has a maximum output of 375 lumens, which can reach 100m and has a run time of up to five hours. There are two other power modes, Low, which has an output of eight lumens and a distance-reach of nine metres that can last 150 hours, and Medium, with an output of 160 lumens, a reach-distance of 45m and a runtime of 10 hours. The Storm 375 has multiple settings, such as proximity and distance modes, dimming, strobe, as well as red, green and blue coloured lights to preserve your night vision, and a lock mode. The Black Diamond Storm 375 headlamp also has brightness memory so it will remain at the chosen brightness even when the headlamp is turned off and back on.

Awnings are one of the most popular pieces of equipment for four-wheelers; however, having to have them hanging off your 4X4 when you're on the school run is a bit naff. RacksBrax has released its HD Hitch pack, to allow easy install and removal of your awning. The Hitch enables you to free-stand your awning when you're in the bush (if you have additional supports, that is). The HD Hitch system is fully lockable, so you don't have to worry about your awning going walkabout at your favourite fast-food stop on the way to your campsite.

Designed to fit all Pioneer Trays, the new Pioneer Tie Down Kit comes in a box of four tie-down points. The Tie Down points are made from aluminium alloy and powder coated to protect against corrosion and have a 120kg load limit (although for off-road use Rhino-Rack suggests limiting it to 60kg). The Tie Down Kit is designed to be twist-and-lock, comes with all the hardware needed, including an Allen key to secure the points onto your roof rack. According to Rhino-Rack the Tie Down points are only intended for use with non-stretch straps (so, no bungee cords).

First, there was the Swiss-army pocketknife, then came the multi-tool and now Leatherman has taken it a step further with its new Free P4 multi-tool. The Free P4 has 21 tools ranging from needle-nose pliers, knives, scissors, and importantly a bottle opener. The headline-grabbing improvement with the P4 is the magnetic connector that allows the release of the tools at the press of a button. No-more busted fingernails trying to pry them out of the housing. With newly designed camlocks, you can use the tool with confidence knowing it won't collapse on you.

Yamaha has released its new inverter generator the EF2200iS, which it says is the perfect size for four-wheelers. Small and compact enough to fit in the back of your 4X4, weighing 25kg without fuel, while providing enough grunt to power some RV air-conditioning units. The 2200iS has a multi-function LED indicator to keep an aye on its doings, three accessory outputs, two AC and one 12V DC cigarette style, as well as an instant reset switch and economy mode. To prevent fuel leaks it has a fuel drain switch, and to minimise damage both the starter cord and switches are flush with the body of the generator.

Modern 4WDs use fly-by-wire throttle control, meaning it can be adjusted via the ECU. Enter the ResponsePlus Throttle Controller which can be used to adjust the signal sent to the vehicle's ECU improving throttle response. The Throttle Controller has multiple different modes, including Comfort, Sports, and Racing, all adjustable in increments from one to nine. It also has a Standard mode, and Economy mode, which Direction-Plus (the maker) claim can help cut fuel consumption, on average, by around eight per cent. The ResponsePlus unit uses only factory plugs, which means there's no need to cut or rewire your 4WD.
