The 2020 Nissan Titan has been revealed boasting a new look inside and out and the same engine as the Y62 Nissan Patrol – expect to see the big Nissan pickup Down Under late next year.
The new-look 2020 Nissan Titan will go on-sale in the US in early 2020 boasting a revised exterior and interior and running the same petrol V8 as the Y62 Patrol. The 5.6-litre Endurance V8 as it’s known in the US makes 298kW and 560Nm of torque. This is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The 2020 Titan is available in a choice of 4×2 or 4×4 drive configurations. It also boasts, Hill Descent Control (PRO-4X variant only), Hill Start Assist, Brake Limited-Slip Differential (BLSD) and electronic locking rear differential.
The revised Titan features three grille options for buyers to choose from and has been designed with Nissan’s, wait for it, ‘powerful warrior’ design language. The boomerang headlights, like the new Patrol, produce around 120% more light in low beam than the previous Titan. They are standard on Titan PRO-4X, SL and Platinum Reserve grades. The available LED fog lights add another 15 degrees of visibility on each side of the TITAN’s front end, according to Nissan.
The new daytime running lights are among the largest ever produced by Nissan and consist of four LED boards putting out 800 lumens each. New all-LED lighting has been added to the pickup bed, using four light sources for full surround lighting.
On the inside, there’s an 8.0-inch infotainment screen with a 9.0-inch screen available too. Apple and Android connectivity is standard and there’s on-board wi-fi too – it can accommodate up to six devices with a connection speed of up to 45Mbps. There’s a new audio system and every 2020 Titan gets front and rear Zero Gravity seats.
While the diesel-powered Titan has been axed, the petrol-powered V8 should satisfy those looking for an alternative to the RAM 1500. And with Nissan Australia on the record saying the Titan is on its shopping list it’s likely we’ll see this new-look Titan Down Under late next year, at the earliest. Nissan had been holding out hope for a factory-converted right-hand drive option, but this is looking unlikely with the likely scenario being a local conversion from left- to right-hand drive like the RAM.
