Unimogs are one of the most capable off-roaders a 4WD enthusiast could drive. The Mercedes-Benz strength and reliability, as well as their size, enable it to go over, or through, anything in its way. Unimogs are a dream vehicle, apart from when you need to use it as a car.

The lack of ability around town is a problem no more, with the latest model, the U218, hitting the market. Unidan sees this smaller Unimog model a perfect compromise for families or retirees who want the capability of a Unimog but in a more manageable size. To put the "small" size of the U218 in perspective, it matches up similarly in dimensions to a Toyota 200 Series LandCruiser. The LandCruiser's dimensions include a wheelbase of 2850mm, width 1980mm, and length 4990mm. The U218 Unimogs dimensions are 2800mm wheelbase, width 2200mm, and length of 4980mm. However, the height of the U218 will limit users at over 2800mm tall. The U218 is powered by a four-cylinder diesel producing 130kW and 750Nm; one of the U218's drawbacks with a maximum limited legal speed of 89km/h, meaning it will keep you safe from speeding tickets!

U218 UNIMOG:
Smarter,
CHEAPer,
Better?

Unidan is not only one of the primary dealers for new Unimogs in Australia but is also known for its creation and manufacture of exhibition setups for them, particularly the Odyssey and Adventurer. Unidan has confirmed that they are building custom bodies for this new smaller U218 Unimog, meaning it will be a viable touring vehicle. You will also be able to get bodies made for your U218 by other bodybuilders as well, such as those who predominantly work on Iveco Daily's thanks to the revamped structure and sizing of the U218. Unidan believes that with this more manageable size, but still with Unimogs renowned ability, that you will see many more U218s on the road.

Along with recreational use, Unidan state that they see the U218 having application in the commercial world with its greater GVM and towing capacity compared to your standard 79 Series and dual-cabs that are used. The commercial use of the U218 is also boosted by the array of accessories available to transform the Unimog into the perfect council vehicle whatever the role.

Unimogs are an alternative vehicle for the country tourer, rather than sticking to the trend of a Toyota or Nissan, Unimogs have developed a cult following. This passionate owner base has seen the Unimog Owner's Drive Weekends continue to grow and get better year on year! So if you have a Unimog or are about to get one keep your plans open for the 8th-10th November for the 2019 event.
