For better or for worse, most 4WDs in Australia are diesel, and most of them have a DPF. Now instead of whinging about the fact and looking at costing yourself a motza (while breaking the law) by getting a DPF delete done, you should first look at maintaining and caring for your DPF. While no one loves DPFs it can be agreed that driving style and use of vehicle goes a long way to maintaining it.  Companies such as Lucas Oil have released additives that claim to aid the care of it. Lucas Oil Diesel Deep Clean claims to help your fuel burn cleaner, therefore, eradicating any particle matter that would commonly get caught up in the DPF causing ‘regens'.  Lucas Oil claims that it will reduce this particulate matter by up to 32% and will reduce the cost of DPF management.

Oztent have just released their new RX-5 tent, and we’re excited. The RX-5 is a two-room, full height, waterproof tent that is built using the same 30 second tent platform design of the original Oztents. The RX-5 has a complete panel system to enclose the front awning fully, and with the Zip-in entry floor providing an utterly waterproof room. The RX-5 includes SkyMesh, which is like a fly screen, that is built into the roof of the tent to give you a view of the stars and providing ventilation inside the tent. Along with a fly being included the RX-5 is made from ModCon material that's rated to CPAI-84 flame retardant, UV resistant, completely waterproof and made to last many adventures.

RRP: $2199

One of the secrets to getting to go camping and 4WDing, is to make sure your passengers and companions have a good time and are comfortable. A priority to achieve this is to keep them warm and dry if it's cold and wet or keep them cool and comfortable if it's stinking hot. Darche has released their Eclipse 180 Rear Wing Awning to give you a way to provide more coverage for you and your friends. Designed to be mounted on the rear but able to be attached to the side for those who want a smaller side awning, it provides four-square metres of coverage. Made from 320gsm poly/cotton canvas with a 1500mm PU waterproofing, the rear awing is designed to be set up by one person easily. It also comes with two pivoting telescopic leg poles as well as two additional supporting legs to provide better stability.

RRP: $799.95

One of, if not the essential tools when you're going camping is a shovel, particularly a long-handled one. Unfortunately, a lot of us when packed full to the gunnels can't fit a good long handle and have to compromise. The team at DMOS has changed this with the creation of their Delta Shovel. The Delta Shovel is a long-handled shovel that folds and stows in a compact size. It has three segments of telescopic shaft along with a stainless détente pin to set up, with a sharp three-millimetre thick blade and a stable extra wide footpad. The Delta Shovel is one of the most robust and most versatile shovels around.

The Delta Shovel is currently at Kickstarter phase.

Lightforce has just released their new heavy-weight contender in the driving light game, the HTX2. The original HTX was considered one of the most innovative driving lights on the market when first released, and its namesake is looking to do the same. A robust one-piece aluminium housing has been designed to dissipate heat more effectively with an incorporated heatsink. Lightforce use both HID and LED technology to provide brighter light with both made to operate at 5000K-colour temperature, so they match. The smart design continues with them being fully sealed to surpass IP68 and IP69K ingress certification. Stay tuned for a full review as we gear up to put them through their paces.

Prices starting from $799

The team at TRED 4X4 have released not one but two new products, the TRED GT (Grand Touring) and the TRED HD (Heavy Duty). While both share the same capable characteristics, we've come to know from TRED along with their variable tooth design; these two new models offer something different.  The TRED GT is made from an automotive-grade polypropylene and can handle vehicles up to four tonnes, and the TRED HD is a nylon blend that can handle up to four and a half tonnes. However, the GT has weight and price on its side weighing only 2.7kgs and an RRP $229, whereas the HD is 3.5kg and priced at RRP $279.

Happy with your trusty 4WD but wish you had some of the added technology of modern vehicles? The team at Polaris GPS are here to help with their Polaris Universal Maxx providing an option to bring your 4X4's infotainment into the 21st century. The Universal Maxx has a massive 10.1-inch screen but still fits as a double din unit! The unit can run a variety of different navigation software, so you always know where you're going, including the reliable HEMA off-road mapping. It comes with a reverse camera to fit as standard, while you can also purchase additional cameras and connect them to give you a better view. It has built-in Wi-Fi, Google Play Store and a split-screen function meaning this could be the GPS to take your 4X4 to the next level.

The team at Drivetech 4x4 have recently released their Performance Exhaust Systems to provide your 4WD with more power. Their Performance Exhaust Systems are constructed from three-inch exhaust tube replacing what most turbo diesels have, a two and a quarter inch exhaust. This means more flow and less restriction in the exhaust system, translating to more power and a nicer note. The Drivetech 4x4 performance exhausts claim to be 100% mandrel-bent as well, resulting in better performance than if it was press bent as well as a great looking product. Best of all, the kits are 100% complete and ready to install, and road legal with free-flowing mufflers and catalytic converters.
